Embryo transfer day- March 10th. We spent the
morning running around stocking up on food, drinks, treats and preparing for
our departure two days later. I was told that strict bedrest for the day of and
day following the transfer were nonnegotiable. We got all of our supplies and
headed to the doctor’s office for our final appointment. We got to see our
little embryos- they were in two petri dishes inside their own incubator (just
like a fully-grown baby!). The third one didn’t look right and had a lot of
fragmentation, and we were told it wouldn’t survive the freeze. I asked the
doctor if we could transfer all three since I didn’t feel like we could flush
the third one- I mean… it’s still my baby! He agreed immediately, and the
transfer was performed. I got to watch the screen as they were put into a
catheter and guided into my uterus. A little white dot of fluid was all I could
make out, but there they were. Safe and sound and back in my tummy to grow and
develop just like a normal pregnancy. I’m trying not to cry while I write this…
but its such an emotional thing. Jason and I made three little babies. No
matter what happens, they are our three perfect little bumblebees. And as of
right now they are my new background on my phone too.
March 12th we headed home. I was not allowed to
do much of anything or carry more than 10 pounds so Jason got to carry all of
our luggage. (Jason, I’m sorry I packed so much!) I was so excited to be home.
I know its weird, but I’d never been away from my mom for that long and I
missed her. Aside from Jason she is my best friend in the world and has been my
rock through this insanity. My dad went crazy too- since the transfer he has
called my mom Grandma . He told my mom that this is definitely going to work.
Both of our parents have said it- which makes it more real.
